Frequently Asked Questions
Why did we create the Rom Pad?
As an OB/GYN in New York City, Dr. Mor saw many pregnant patients complaining about fluid leakage. In many cases, it was not easy for him or his colleagues to confidently confirm or rule out what the leakage was.
What is amniotic fluid?
Amniotic fluid is the fluid surrounding the baby in the womb.
What does it mean if I am leaking amniotic fluid? Why is it a concern?
If I am leaking amniotic fluid, it means that the sack surrounding the baby has broken; this is known as "breaking your water". Breaking your water is a concern because the baby is now exposed to germs which can make the baby sick. On TV, when a person breaks their water, it is a huge gush of liquid; in reality, this is not always the case! In some cases, breaking your water is actually minimal and hard to differentiate from urine leakage or vaginal discharge.
Did I break my water? Am I am leaking urine?
Often times, pregnant patients have fluid leakage, simply after coughing or laughing. On TV, when a person breaks their water, it is a huge gush of liquid; in reality, this is not always the case! In some cases, breaking your water is actually minimal and hard to differentiate from urine leakage or vaginal discharge. Additionally, leakage of amniotic fluid can be intermittent; another fact that makes it challenging to diagnose. The ROM Pad will help you and your doctor determine if you really broke your water!
